Samhain: the name for the Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season believed to have Celtic origins. It was celebrated on October 31st. Is was believed that the veil between this world and the other world was at it’s thinnest at this time and that the spirits or faeries could travel more easily into our world. Samhain was celebrated to appease the spirits of nature so that they would protect the next years harvest. Fun fact, Samhain in the Scottish Gaelic is actually pronounced “souw- in”
