Hailing from South America’s Pampas region, the Criollo is a hardy and athletic stock horse, descended from the mounts of Spanish conquistadors. Celebrated for their endurance and versatility, Criollos became the trusted partners of the gauchos who worked the vast grasslands.
Jaquel Hilton is the only Criollo stallion currently standing in the United States. Imported in 2007 from Uruguay’s renowned Cabaña Septiembre, Hilton went on to become a two-time qualifier in the prestigious Freno de Oro competition — one of the ultimate tests of ranch horse versatility.
Now retired and standing at Gravitas Criollos in Missouri, Hilton is passing on his strength, spirit, and talent to a new generation of versatile ranch and sport horses.
